Museum Professionals and Volunteers visit China with Michael Monroe and Patricia Shuman (November 8-21, 2008)

At the invitation of the China Workers’ Center for International Exchange (CWCIE) in Beijing, Michael Monroe, Executive Director/Chief Curator of the Bellevue Arts Museum, and Patricia Shuman,
museum advocate, will lead US museum professionals and volunteers for networking opportunities in China.
The team will:
Share expertise with Chinese counterparts about all aspects of museum leadership
Profit from high-level introductions
Research possibilities for collaboration
Rewarding professional and cultural activities await team members and their friends
Participation in the program is by invitation only. The goal of this exchange program is the sharing of expertise and ideas between Chinese and American museum professionals and volunteers. You may be invited as an official team member or as a guest.
For the official team, the exchange team leaders, Michael Monroe and Pat Shuman identify individuals who have skills, perspectives and experience in museum management and operations. Official team members’ activities with their Chinese counterparts will include conversations, presentations and seminars in formal and informal settings. Resumes and/or letters of interest will be requested of individuals who are selected to join the official team.
Friends, colleagues and family members are welcome to accompany the official team as guest members. Guest members wishing to opt out during the professional activities will be offered an alternate program.
